What Cocada means
Cocada is a Mexican sweet name of Spanish origin meaning "coconut sweet". It is built from Spanish coco (coconut) and -ada (made of). It is pronounced koh-KAH-dah, and it is most associated with Guerrero.
Coco in Portuguese and Spanish meant a grinning face or a bogeyman; sailors named the nut for the three holes that look like two eyes and a mouth. So a cocada is literally a bogeyman-fruit sweet.
